Welcome to the Special Education Association's on-line Bookclub!
Inclusion of all students is the philosophy of public education in British Columbia. The trend of increasing diversity in BC's student population is fairly well documented. Differentiated instruction is responsive instruction that allows each child to progress successfully from their current level of competency. It requires getting to know the learner and what he/she needs to be successful.
The role of the Special Education teachers is to support successful inclusion. Many of you are non-enrolling teachers who support classroom teachers in meeting the needs of all the learners in their classroom.
This is an opportunity for you to to be part of a provincial professional learning community and to improve your teaching practice from the comfort of your own home.
The book will be divided into 6 sections. Each section will be posted for one week. You will be able to read the assigned section on your own time and then post questions and comments to a discussion board. We will include pertinent links.
This BOOKCLUB will run from March 31 until May 15/09. The registration deadline is February 28/09
